REFLECTION ON ASPIRE FOUNDATION PROGRAM TRAINING

In June 2019, I had the privilege of attending a five day training program at Tatamagouche Centre in Nova Scotia, the Aspire Foundation Program: Facilitation, Design and Leadership. I was excited about the opportunity to participate in some professional development work. As a small non-profit leader, resources for development aren’t readily available and it can be hard to prioritize yourself over other critical needs in an organization working hard for change.

This webinar hosted Terri Sleeva, Mirtha Rivera and Miranda Hanus sharing their learnings from the “Advocacy in a Shifting Landscape” training which happened in Regina in June 2019. The sharing is followed by a discussion among members of the Righting Relations West Hub.

Maigan van der Giessen grew up on treaty 6 territory and works in the Edmonton/Amiskwaciwaskahikan community as an artist, activist, human rights facilitator and youth mentor. She has a BA from the University of Alberta in Political Science and Middle Eastern and African Studies.
